EUROPE + MOBILE LEARNING AND CITIZENSHIP
Aim of MobilID Project
Comenius school project MobilID September 2007 - July 2009 focuses on Mobile Learning. First meeting will be March 2008 in Slovenia during the Slovenian Presidency. Priority of Slovenian Presidency is the second cycle of the renewed Lisbon Strategy and development of a competitive business environment. Therefore, we will have a EU Fair and in all countries we run BEST Project with country fairs and economic focus. Second meeting will be November 2008 in France during the French EU Presidency. Third meeting will be in Rome, during the celebration of the Treaty of Rome, 25th of March 2009. Aim of this project is for teachers to co-operate in raising awareness about European Citizenship for pupils. MobilID means Mobile Identity and Intercultural Dialogue. How can pupils and teachers find and use 21st Century Skills and ICT Tools to improve Sustainable Economy and Environment together in Europe? The MobilID Teachers and pupils learn how to deal with the computer and its multiple resources. Together we design, share, compare and enhance teaching methods and materials to improve our future on a European and global level.
Main theme is ‘Meeting the Significant Other’, based on a real-life growing scale in which a child grows up: from family values, to neighbourhood, class, school, community, region, nation, Europe, and world. Direct focus is the personal development of the child, the civic skills and flexibility needed to be able to collaborate with others of different cultures, gender, race, and abilities, to be mobile enough for a future in Europe, to share different realities, ways of communication and concern for environment. Through virtual geographical mobility and shared historical conscience pupils reach intercultural overview and give evidence in Elos portfolio. Teachers produce interactive, cross-curricular tasks: multilingual with English summaries, on social and exact sciences, music, and arts. National webspaces with CLIL tasks on heritage, habitat, homes exist alongside one projectspace European Citizenship. The CLIL tasks of European knowledge, competence and attitude are linked to CEF, tagged, evaluated, published in print and, together with a dvd on workprocess of the project, made available to pupils, parents, schoolmanagers and teachers in Europe in an open source digital environment.
Mission is to inspire teachers, trainers, policymakers and other experts in our schools and regions to share their educational, linguistic, cultural and administrative experiences and their didactic know-how on a European level. This kind of exchange will enable us to learn from one another with a view to introducing pedagogical and methodological innovation into the respective schools, institutions and regions in Europe, and thus allow pupils to benefit.
Co-operation is developed through training sessions, face-to-face meetings at the participating schools in Bulgaria, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, and Turkey and through continuous collaboration and exchange of ideas on our electronic Moodle Platform. The project is coordinated by Visser 't Hooft Lyceum, the Netherlands. Each European school will form a partnership with a school from a different continent to put European Citizenship into a global perspective. The project results are published in our Wiki and our eMagazine. Photos are being exchanged in our MobilID Mobile Learning Social Software.
The participating schools are carrying out a parallel global iEarn project and a European eTwinning project with the title Best Project, which has the purpose to make the pupils of the participating schools work on a European AND international basis of Fair Trade and improving on entrepreneurial and collaborative skills.
